DOA RETURNING TO ECW
Reported by Al Isaacs
at:
http://scoopswrestling.com
Apparently DOA will be
returning to ECW; the identical twins were
formerly in ECW under
their real names of Ron & Don Harris. Although I
really don't see an
upside here, I assume Paul Heyman sees something he
can work with.

I just finished
reading an Article that should have started with
"Once upon a time,"
and ended with "And they all lived happily ever
after." That would
have been the appropriate beginning and ending
because it sure was a
fairy tale. It contained the response written to
who someone the author
deemed a "WWF Mark." That is the term used by
virtually every one of
WCW's Defenders Of The Faith. They lump most WWF
fans in a group they
classify as
"non-fans,"
"Johnny-Come-Lately's," and "Austin Lovers." At the same
time, they claim they
are "real" wrestling fans and want nothing more
than to see to see
hour long matches between their heroes, like Benoit
and Malenko.
The Defenders
completely ignore that the product the WWF provides is
what most people want
to see. A perfect example is Mankind's "This Is
Your Life" tribute to
The Rock this past Monday on RAW, which garnered
the highest rating
ever for a wrestling show's quarter hour (8.6),
while NITRO scored
less than a 2.0 (1.6) for the same time period. If
you look at the prior
and post quarter-hours, you can readily see that
NITRO dropped and then
went back up. You don't have to be a rocket
scientist, or even one
of the geniuses that live in
Ames, Iowa, to see
that many NITRO fans
left to watch the segment and returned after it
was over. Seems like a
lot of NITRO fans enjoy Sports Entertainment
also, no matter what
The Defenders say.
Getting back to our
junior Aesop, he found good in almost everything on
NITRO. He thinks the
viewers were interested in such things as The
Pussy Cat's match, the
return of Slick Ric Junior, aka David Flehr. He
found virtually no
faults in NITRO
and very little good
in RAW. This was his idea of a balanced view.
Anyone that wanted to
could go through either show match-by-match,
promo-by-promo and
come out with any conclusion they wanted to. I am
the first to call
anything
involving Mideon,
Visera and Steve Blackman a waste, but I think I
would have to say the
same about anything involving The Pussy Cat,
Flexy Lexy (who has
now dropped his name and hiding under the full time
alias of The Total
Package), Konnan, etc.
This budding fable
writer falls in with the group the seems to think
every WWF fan is
either new, under 12, a male with over active
hormones, or some
combination of them. They totally disregard reality,
but I guess if you are
writing a fable, that's how its done. They
continue to cite the
WWF's use of T&A, while ignoring the fact that the
worst cases of "T"
were done weekly by
Savage's Bimbo's. They
showed more "T" then you might see anywhere,
short of going to a
Gentleman's Club.
Blast the WWF if you
want, but remember that first, last and
foremost, that
wrestling is a business, and businesses exist to make
money. Last I looked,
not a single wrestling Federation was listed as
a Charity. Higher
attendance means more revenue, higher TV ratings mean
more revenue, more
merchandise sales mean higher revenues, etc. At this
time, the WWF is
giving the majority
of the fans what they
want to see. Nothing lasts forever. When tastes
change, maybe what WCW
provides will be on top. Rather than rehashing
the same old tired and
worn out arguments and telling the world about
the evils of the WWF,
enjoy what you watch. Don't label any fan a
"Mark" because he
prefers one over the other(s) and don't give the Phil
Mushnick's of the
world
ammunition they can
use to further their agenda of having wrestling
taken off TV.
Remember that WCW's
new Bean Counter In Charge himself said he liked
and watched RAW. That
may be a clue in which direction WCW will be
heading.
On a closing note, I
recently read another Article by a most
respected columnist
again touting Slick Ric for the job of WCW
President. He almost
seems to be on a crusade. I also read a very well
written rebuttal, by
one of The Eight Known WCW Fans. I said it before
and I'll say it again:
Selecting a wrestler (or an
ex-wrestler) is the
wrong thing to do. What is needed is someone with a
fresh outlook, with no
preconceived notions. Many companies on their
last legs, and
although WCW is far from that, select a "Turnaround
Specialist" for the
job.
They are people who
will make the painful choices necessary to
restore a floundering
company. WCW is floundering and needs such a
Chief Executive. I
want nothing more than to see a healthy and vibrant
WCW. We, the fans have
the most to gain from it.

Virginia
First we saw the clip
of Mankind with the Rock from RAW
Sunday Night Heat:
Vicsera d. Chaz after
the ref refused to count Chaz's pinfall attempts
(I guess the referee
was thinking Chaz hit Marianna).
Al Snow d. Mideon in a
Hardcore title match after rolling a bowling
ball into Mideon's
crotch.
Godfather d. Gangrel
by DQ
Smackdown begins…
Road Dogg, wearing a
Mr. Ass T-Shirt, went againstY2J. The match ended
when The Holly's
(doing commentary) came in and powerbomed Road Dogg
onto a table.
Mankind came out to
confront Val about Rocko. Val acted like he didn't
know what he was
talking about until Mankind showed
G-TV to Val, who
promised he would get Rocko back.
Vince McMahon is shown
in the back telling Triple H that he is going
to defend the title
against the Bulldog, with The Rock as the ref. The
Rock was asked about
his involvement in the match.
Edge and Christian d.
The New Brood after Christian superplexed Jeff
Hardy off of Edge's
shoulders. Terri came out to do commentary.
Droz and
Prince Albert come out to do
commentary during The Big Show
vs. D-Lo Brown match.
D-lo hit the Low Down but Big Show kicked out.
Prince Albert got on the top
rope to do a dropkick but was caught by
the big hand of the
Big Show, which Albert got away from. D-lo was then
attacked by Droz. Mark
Henry came out to saved D-lo. D-lo left the ring
upset. Mark stayed in
the ring saying he has a problem. He's a
Sexaholic. He then
said he's going to get professional help.
Shane was shown
talking to Austin in the back.
Rock and Mankind were
talking in the back and The Rock then told Mick
to go after Val and
get Rocko back.
Test and Steph were in
the back looking at "night apparel" when Droz
came up and took off
his shirt and was wearing a dress!!! Steph seemed
to like it and Test
did as well.
Next was a elimination
tag match between the Acolytes/Dudleys/X-Pacand
Kane A fast past match
that saw The Acolytes DQed after not listening
to the ref. That left
the Dudleys with X-Pac and Kane. After a
Chokeslam, X-Pac and
Kane won the match. The Acolytes came back and
beat down X-Pac and
Kane.
Note:Buh-Buh was
wearing The Rock's Rock n Sock jacket. In the back
Mankind asked Buh-Buh
for the jacket, and Buh-Buh told Mick,he found it
in a trash can.
Mankind vowed to get the jacket back.
The Hollys come out.
Hardcore wanted to fight someone tonight, but
Crash wanted to fight
that much more. Hardcore let him have the match
aginst Summo (a.k.a.
FATU ), wearing a bright Sumo outfit. Fatu
dominated the match
and hit a nasty version of Greetings From Ashbery
Park on Crash
Dotson (a security
guy) was shown in the back talking to Terry Taylor
when Blackman attacked
Dotson.
Jeff Jarrett came out
with Miss Kitty with an ironing board and brooms
and told Chyna that
she should be doing all of that type of stuff.
Debra came out, but
not alone...she brought out all the women Jarrett
attacked, including
Cindy Margolis. Though they surrounded the ring
Jarrett held them off,
at least until Chyna came out and pushed Jarrett
to the outside. All
the women started beating Jarrett with brooms &
plungers; Debra hit
Jarrett with some type of tray.
Mankind came out to
fight Buh-Buh for the jacket. Stevie Richards came
out in Mankind's
corner. Val came out and sat with the King and Cole.
When the ref was
distracted, Buh-Buh received the Stevie kick. Buh-Buh
ran out, leaving the
jacket.
Next Val came in and
said he respected Foley and wanted to give Rocko
back. Val put Rocko on
and told Mick to close his eyes. When he did,Val
did the testicular
claw on Mankind as Buh-Buh and D-Von tore the jacket
up. Val kept the hold
on a long time and for the first time, left
hearing boo's.
Main Event: Bulldog
vs. Triple H with The Rock as the referee. Rock
came out to a huge
pop. Next The Bulldog came in and got into the
Rock's face; The rock
knocked Bulldog out of the ring.
Triple H came out and
beat on the Bulldog. Triple H had the Bulldog
pinned but the Rock
didn't care. He did commentary most of the match
instead of doing his
job. Finally Triple H got the Bulldog slammed,
and when the Rock
started to count, he said it doesn't matter what the
count is and left for
more commentary.
Aftera Pedigree The
Rock didn't count and instead gave Triple H a DDT,
and the Bulldog a Rock
Bottom. The People's Elbow followed and The
Rock took the belt
with him. In the back, Triple H was looking for the
Rock and the Rock
smacked Triple H with the belt; the Bulldog then
attacked The Rock and
they went off camera.
Triple H got up and
walked to his dressing room, but the door was
locked. When it opened
Austin was inside and started to beat the hell
out of Triple H. After
the show, Austin graced us with his presence and
drank near 15 beers
while Triple H got the stunner 8 times.
