DUSTY RHODES LEAVING WCW?
Reported by Al Isaacs
at:
http://www.scoopswrestling.com
Isaacs reports that
Dusty Rhodes is about to leave WCW, supposedly to
avoid an on-air feud
against son Dustin.
Rhodes has been working on &
off as an assistant
booker for the past several years, with his
influence rising &
falling depending on who was in charge.
Often cited as one of
the more creative minds in the business, the
three-time NWA World
Heavyweight Champion has been involved in booking
some of the more
entertaining scenarios of this generation. He was
also responsible for
some of the most repetitive angles in memory, with
the infamous "Dusty
finish" helping to killing off most of the
JCP/WCW's prime territories.
It's unknown if
Rhodes would find a job
opportunity in the WWF; I would
think that cooler
heads may prevail & that
Rhodes may end up staying in
WCW. After all, there
aren't a lot of employment opportunities for
performers who have
spent their entire working lives in the wrestling
business.
JUVENTUD GUERRERA'S
JOB IN JEOPARDY
Reported by Dave
Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter
Meltzer reports that
WCW is considering firing Juventud Guerrera Jr. if
his English skills
don't improve (remember, Russo has stated in
interviews that he has
no interest in pushing "Mexican or Japanese
performers").
Debatably the second
best worker in the company, Juvi has always
received very strong
reactions from the audience despite being given no
reason to care about
his character.
While it would clearly
be in Guerrera's best interest to learn English
if he intends to
practice his craft in this country, WCW would be
making a HUGE blunder
if they cut this talented performer.

WCW THUNDER REPORT FOR
11/4/1999
By Rick Phelps (wrestleric)
Evan Karagias versus
Juventud Guerrera
Once again, another
match between these two was interrupted.....this
time by Norman Smiley.
Smiley said that he found his niche as a
hardcore competitor
and every WCW athlete would receive a "big wiggle"
beating. The
Cruiserweights then attacked, but collided in mid-ring.
Smiley then danced.
Winner: No Contest
--The Revolution
discussed adding a new member to the group.
--Mike Graham informed
Sid that he would team with Perry Saturn against
Rick Steiner and Chris
Benoit.
Booker T w/Stevie Ray
versus Kaz Hayashi
Booker finished off
Kaz with a missile dropkick.
Winner: Booker T via
pinfall
--In the back, the
Filthy Animals were harassing Doug Dillinger, with
Konnan swiping the
head of security's wallet.
--Rick Steiner told
Gene Okerlund that when the smoke cleared tonight,
he and Sid would be
standing tall.
Coach Buzz Stern
w/Luther Biggs versus Eddie Guerrerow/Filthy Animals
After interference by
the Animals, Guerrero hit the frog splash for the
win. After the bell,
the Animals took the Coach's playbook and some of
both men's clothing.
Winner: Eddie
Guerrerovia pinfall
--Berlyn and Curly
Bill, who were challenging later in the evening for
the tag titles, were
having friction in the back about where they were
both from.
--The
DFG told the Crippler that he
was going to have a long night.
--The Revolution and
Sid were discussing the upcoming tag team match,
with Sid saying that
they would just have to wait and see what happened.
--Through sub titles,
La Parka said he would beat Buff again and he
wears what he wears
because he is a fan of the cartoon character
Skeletor.
Buff Bagwell versus La
Parka
Buff didn't lay down
this time...the Blockbuster did La Parka in.
Winner: Buff Bagwell
--The Filthy Animals
wanted to know who the "brainiacs" were that put
Curly Bill and Berlyn
together and said that the Revolution is going
to need 24 hour
protection.
Konnan/Kidman (c)
versus Curly Bill/Berlyn *Tag Team Championship*
Berlyn walked away
from the match, allowing K-Dogg to put Curly in the
Tequila Sunrise.
Winners: The Filthy
Animals via submission
--Lash Leroux said
that Disco Inferno was on his hit list as long as
Disco had the
Cruiserweight title.
--Van Hammer told Mene
Gene that he would be the next member of the
Revolution.
Lash Leroux versus
Silver King
Leroux wins another
one with the Rajun Cajun.
Winner: Lash Leroux
via pinfall
--Benoit said that
Malenko was now the hunted, and that he would take
on Sid and
DFG by himself if necessary.
Van Hammer versus Dean
Malenko w/Revolution
Before the bell,
Hammer said that they could welcome him into the group
or he could fight his
way in by beating Malenko's "vertically
challenged" a$$. With
help from the Revolution, the Iceman put Hammer
down with the
Texas
Cloverleaf.
Winner: Dean Malenko
via submission
Over The Top Rope
Battle Royal
The competitors were
Chris Adams, El Dandy, Steve Regal, Prince Iaukea,
Jerry Flynn, Dave
Taylor, Scotty Riggs, and Chavo Guerrero Jr. It was
said that the winner
would receive a "golden opportunity" on Nitro and
the others may be
looking for employment "up north."
Winner: Chavo Guerrero
Jr. (Monkey Flipped Steve Regal over the top)
Sid Vicious/Perry
Saturn versus Chris Benoit/Rick Steiner
Apparently unlike what
they had planned, the
DFG attempted to roll up
Sid after the Vicious
one was going to pin him. Sid then powerbombed
the
DFG and walked away. Steiner
then attacked Benoit and walked away.
The bell was rung when
the Iceman interfered. A fight then broke out
between the Revolution
and the Filthy Animals.
Winners: Match Thrown
Out (According to Scott Hudson)

A DISSATISFIED WWF
VIEWER
Written by reader:
CVania
I am fed up with WWF
wrestling. On SmackDown tonight I must admit that
the main event was
good, better then they usually are. But what makes
me mad is that when
Stone Cold was "injured", the Rock became the
biggest and best
wrestling superstar! It was great, as The Rock is my
favorite wrestler!
The only reason why I
really watch wrestling anymore is because of The
Rock. Now that The
Rattlesnake is back, The Rock is second to Stone
Cold?!?! This is
bulls**t! S.C. is hurt so they build up the Rock,
then Rattlesnake comes
back, and no more story lines for the Rock? No
more catch phrases or
storyline for the Rock. S.C. and the Rock are a
great duo to make
great storylines, but now it seems they just focus on
S.C., back to the
Rattlesnake ways of the last few years of WWF
wrestling.
I mean, I knew that
Stone Cold would end up finishing the match with
the other 3 teammates
going down. I don't know, but it makes me really
mad. Thank you.

Steve Appy
responds:
I don't think that you
have to worry too much about The Rock; he's
obviously being
groomed for the top spot in the company, and he will be
given plenty of focus
in the future. Whether you agree with the
decision or not, The
Rock, barring injury or a bad attitude, will be
the future of The
World Wrestling Federation.

AN ADVOCATE FOR DEAN
MALENKO
Written by reader:
DrawBoom
The reason you don't
hear from fans of Dean Malenko is because, like
the man himself, we
choose to comport ourselves with class, maturity
and quiet dignity. We
don't shill and shrill, mark and bark or any of
that other juvenile
jive. That said, not only is Deeno Machine-O (I
loved when
Jericho called him
that) the
MAN, the finest technical
wrestler in WCW
today, not only is 3
minutes of his focus and intensity on the mike
worth three hours of
stand-up comedy from any other performer, but he
delivers what has to
be, pound-for-pound, the highest impact slams in
the business!
His matches against
the likes of Rey Jr., Eddie Guerreroand yes, the
Ayatollah himself,
Chris Jericho had some of the most electrifying
power moves you'll see
on American T.V (if you kids could pay attention
that long without
someone flashing her tits). Anybody who thinks The
Man Of A Thousand
Holds is boring should never, ...E-E-E-EVER... be
allowed into a
conversation on wrestling again. Thank you. Applause.

IN DEFENSE OF VINCE
Written by reader:
Eric Fusco (eldago1@xxxxs...)
Did he "make"
wrestling or "destroy" it? To create,
you must first
destroy. McMahon and the WWF certainly
have destroyed some
elements of wrestling, while creating others.
Yes, the characters
are larger than life, their stories move faster and
the whole dynamic has
changed. But, it has changed with the times.
Can you imagine ANYONE
watching wrestling these days if it was just two
big bruisers hammering
at each other
AND everyone knew that the
ending
was planned?
Inconceivable! If it was not for Vince & the WWF, pro
wrestling would be
completely dead. An old joke that no one would
remember.
McMahon and the WWF
have made wrestling incredibly successful. Keep
in mind it is still a
business, just like baseball, basketball and
hockey. And businesses
have three possible stages: Decline, Static and
Advancing. And if you
are Static, you will soon be on the Decline. A
business has to keep
moving ahead. And that is what the WWF is doing.
Advancing. Pushing the
envelope.
If you want to keep
wrestling the way it was in the old days, well then
you might as well take
it off of television. As I recall, isn't there
a great story about
the wrestling promoter who kicked out the guy who
wanted to put his
wrestling matches on TV? And where is he today?
Certainly not in
Titan Tower...
"Space
Mountain's the oldest ride in the park. You know what the
problem is? It's still
got the longest line in the park, Jack.
Wooooooooo!"

ONCE AGAIN, THE LAST
WORD ON KEVIN NASH
Written by reader:
Andy Laudano (Hitman-Andy)
I was catching up on
e-mail when I read about someone spreading crap
about Kevin Nash. I've
been fortunate to meet a lot of the guys in the
business, one of my
hobbies is keeping scrapbooks of my favorites and
having them autograph
pictures in them for me when they come to town.
I first met Kevin Nash
as Diesel and watched him & Shawn Michaels go
through my book and
crack jokes on each others rookie pictures. Another
time I saw Kevin hold
court with fans in the parking lot after RAW as
they wished him well
on his new WCW deal.
Another time I saw a
crowd of about 50 people in a hotel lobby waiting
for autographs after
Nitro. We were waiting for Kevin, Scott Hall and
Bill Goldberg, who
were relaxing in the bar. Each one came out one at a
time after the bar had
closed and took the time to sign autographs and
pose for pictures with
everyone who wanted one. Kevin was the last one
out and after he'd
finished he asked if there was anyone left who still
wanted an autograph or
picture before he went up to his room. Nobody
left disappointed!
A friend and I went to
one of those autograph signings this guy was
talking about. This
was at a sports show in Houston TX. Everyone there
knew the
SHOW was charging for Kevin
to sign and it was no big deal. My
friend brought some
photos of Kevin that he took at a Nitro that he'd
blown up to get
signed. As we went through the line Kevin explained
politely that he was
only ALLOWED by the show to sign one item per
person.
He (Nash) asked if we
could catch him after the signing so he could
sign them and Kevin
told us to catch him at the airport, that he was
flying out after the
signing and he told us his airline & flight time
just so my friend
could get his pictures signed! We went to the airport
and as we made our way
through we heard "Hey! You guys looking for
someone?" We turned
around and there was Nash taking a picture with a
girls softball team.
He told us how his
flight was delayed and invited us to have a few
beers with him while
he waited! He signed my friends pictures, some
more pictures in my
scrapbook (including signing a "Master Blaster
Steel", "Oz" and
"Vinnie Vegas"
To complete my
collection!) and signed for anyone else who came up and
asked him! I hope this
clears up any questions about what kind of guy
Kevin Nash is! Kevin
Nash is a man who truly cares about his fans and
anyone who says
differently is a liar!
