A DISGRUNTLED WWF FAN
Written by reader: Roy
Bhandari (Three1Six)
Wrestling Sucks! I never
thought I would say this but wrestling is
really starting to wear off
me and I just cannot watch it anymore. I
consider myself a huge fan of
the WWF and lately it has gone down the
drain.
No, this is not because
Austin has disappeared, no this is not because
the Big Show is the World
Champion, it is because of the mediocre shows
they are putting on every
week. I live in England and we don't get RAW
until Friday so I do read
"Spoilers" and after reading them, I have no
desire whatsoever to go and
watch the show, especially since I can
think of a lot better things
to do on a Friday night.
There are a number of things
that I think the WWF are doing wrong:
1) Degrading the WWF Title. I
think that Big Show could be a
respectable champion BUT what
the hell is WWF doing? Putting him
against Big Boss Man? Opening
the Smackdown card against Chris
Jericho? Hardcore Holly?
What is this? This is NOT how
to put someone over. He needed to get
out of the Boss Man feud
before winning the World Strap. I only hope
that the Bossman/Big Show
match is midcard for Armageddon and
Undertaker interferes,
causing Big Show to win but loses it later on in
the night to the Undertaker
because the WWF have degraded Big Show and
the World Title.
2) Having a woman as IC
Champion. No disrespect to women wrestling
fans, but honestly, what has
the world come to? Chyna, another
mediocre performer, and
Jericho carried her ass to a decent match.
There is a lot of rumors
about Jericho "paying his dues" but having
anyone job to a woman
wrestler is downright degrading. Jericho is WAY
better than this and I think
Chyna is starting to get a little over her
head. She was good as Triple
H's "lacky" and that is about it.
3) Triple H v Vince McMahon.
This in itself is a good angle, but
haven't I seen all this
before? The boss, putting a wrestlers back
against the wall in EVERY
single match yet that certain wrestler always
manages to find a way out?
Hmm, brings me back to the Austin v McMahon
feud. It's been done. You can
tell that the WWF are all out of idea's,
they are doing what has
already been done. Triple H is doing well in
this role and in my opinion
is the best heel since Vince and has filled
his boots well. Why the hell
did they reform DX? We want DX to be
doing their skits and
hilarious interviews. Have we seen this? Nope.
Another desperate move by the
WWF because they didn't think before they
did it.
4) Pushing wrestlers, too
far, too quick. This was a problem with a few
of the last PPVs. Val Venis,
in my opinion, is a tremendous talent and
can be pushed if done well.
The Mankind feud was too quick for him and
the WWF didn't get him over
before pushing him. Same with Big Show/The
Holly's. The opposite to this
is once someone is actually over, they
don't push them. Perfect
example, Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian.
Neither of them have received
proper pushes.
I just thought I'd throw in
my two cents and hope you read it. If you
want to give me some
feedback, go ahead, my E-Mail address is
Three1Six
Let me know by the subject
what it is (I.e. Booking Sheet Feedback or
whatever) so I wont delete
it.
Thanks,
Roy Bhandari

IN DEFENSE OF THE WWF
Written by reader: Chris
Davis (cd7890)
Isn't it funny that people
aren't willing to take responsibility for
themselves and just throw it
on some other person or group? I'm tired
of these people trying to
eliminate WWF programming. This is America,
land of the free. Why is it
that people see fit to take it upon
themselves and make a mockery
of the document that made this country
what it is today? Why is it
people think that they can make up our
mind about what we can watch
and can't watch.
I say be a responsible parent
and tell your kids what they can and what
they can't watch instead of
blaming somebody else and thinking that
your in the right when it
isn't true.
Let me tell you
something.....
When I was a little kid and
something was on that my parents didn't
approve of me watching,
they'd just say, "Chris, listen, I don't want you
to watch this show. So if I
catch you watching this show I'll make
sure you regret it." They
would leave it at that. Then you know damn
well I wasn't about to watch
it. If your children watches a
objectionable show then
that's your bad parenting. That's no one
else's fault but your own.
I admit, there are certain
things on television like ECW and the WWF
(and now WCW) that children
under a certain age shouldn't be watching,
but it's up to you to make
sure they don't watch it. It's your job.
That's like saying "Guns kill
so many people, I think we should
petition for the removal of
guns from the public market". We all know
that that is just B.S.
So friends, I encourage you
all to support the WWF, whether you like
them or not) and send letters
and E-Mail's to their sponsor's thanking
them for staying with the WWF
and stating how much you disapprove of
the PTC.
Also, E-Mail and write the
people of the PTC, and I don't mean being
immature and sending them
hate mail, and tell them how much you enjoy
the WWF's programming and how
their methods are preposterous.
Cite the positives of the WWF
while not overlooking its negatives.
Together we can overcome
this. Please send this message to everybody
on your list (Canadians
included). E-Mail to friends also. Thank you
for your time.......

Ultimate Pro Wrestling:
Entertainment Overload
You can probably hear it all
over Huntington Beach like echoes in a
country valley. The screaming
of the torture. Dropkicks, leglocks,
clotheslines, hurricaranas
and even chair shots. This is the sound of
the stars of Ultimate Pro
Wrestling training and getting ready for
their next big show.
So far this year, the UPW has
invaded famous theatres like The Coach
House and The Roxy. Being
billed as the next 'big thing' is something
to live up to and this
company does it well. But there is only one
direction for this fast
growing company and that's up, straight to the
top.
Already familiar with the TV
and movie screen by appearing in such
shows as ER, GvsE, City Guys,
Later, Mad About You, Drew Carey, rap
videos and of course
Universal Soldier: The Return, these mastadons are
ready to
invade one of the worlds most
famous theatres.
On December 2nd, 1999,
Ultimate Pro Wrestlings takes center stage at
none other than the ROXY in
Hollywood! That's right, this mega event
will rock the foundations of
this historic venue. With the high flying,
heart stopping, breath taking
action you will find out firsthand why
many see UPW rising to the
top.
With 6 of our athletes
already signed to a WWF contract this year
alone, you will be witnessing
the birth of new superstars as they
collide in the grandest of
all independent promotions. This year has
seen a lot of the top
promotions stars come out to join UPW in making
every show a show to
remember. We've had Kanyon, Rob Van Dam, Sting,
Ivory, UFC champion Oleg
Taktarov to name a few. Who will show up at
the next show? Can anyone
topple the UPW Champion MadDog Mike Bell? Who
will be the next UPW star to
sign a major contract with the WWF or WCW?
There's only one way to find
out and that's to come out and cheer, boo,
or just sit back and enjoy
quality sports entertainment at a UPW show.
UPW is the future and the
future is now!
